CHIN AND CHEEK

Chin and Cheek augmentation can be carried out using either fat transfer and grafting or with the use of implants. Our surgeon assesses the likelihood of achieving the result with both before settling on the course of treatment with the patient. The results can give a natural youthful look with sharp features.

With the onset of time and age, there are areas of the face that are more prone to tissue degeneration. Most commonly these areas are the cheeks and the chin area.

The cheeks are an important part of the facial make up and degeneration in the cheeks tissue can be most noticeable. The obvious resolution is to fill the area where the tissue once was. This can be achieved in two ways. Firstly specifically shaped cheek implants can be used to augment the cheek area, giving a fuller appearance.

A second method is fat grafting using the patients' own fat cells. Fat is taken from a donor site and injected to the cheeks, and a course of treatments gradually builds the cheek tissue up to a desired level.

The same treatments can be applied to the chin, however, unlike the cheeks; procedures on the chin are usually required because of lack of bone structure.

Implants are widely used to enhance the chin, but fat grafting can give equally pleasing results.

Chin and Cheek Augmentation in Manchester at Castlefield Clinic is carried out under Twilight Sedation (local anaesthetic with sedation) which minimises the risks normally associated with a general anaesthetic. The technique of anaesthesia also means that there is less bruising and a quicker recovery time with no need for an overnight stay.
