THE LOW DOWNTIME ALTERNATIVE TO LASER SKIN RESURFACING
Sometimes simple daily exfoliation just isn’t enough. Sometimes your skin needs a boost to regain its freshness and tightness.
Over the years, the skin sheds its dead skin cells. However, sometimes these skin cells stick to the surface and form a glue of decayed skin that becomes difficult to penetrate.
For this reason we offer a range of skin peels. Skin Peels benefit the skin in two distinct ways; firstly, the dead skin cells are rapidly, effectively and uniformly removed to allow younger, fresher looking skin to resurface, and secondly, by removing the dead skin cells and exposing the fresher skin, the body’s natural response is to create new skin cells. In this way, the normal 6 week renewal cycle of the skin is reduced to 4 or 5 weeks.
FRESHER UNBLEMISHED SKIN
Chemical skin peels help refresh the skin, remove blemishes, reduce the appearance of stretch marks, and even help reduce the appearance of scars by removing the top layers of skin in a controlled and uniform manner.
This leaves the skin feeling softer, smoother, and also prompts your skin’s natural defence mechanism to produce new skin cells. In turn the skin newer, fresher skin is revealed, and you can see results in about 15 days after treatment, rather than the months it takes with laser treatments.
BETTER THAN EXFOLIATION
Many people exfoliate, and a skin peel is no different to exfoliation in that the skin feels softer and more supple, but a peel is more uniform that exfoliation, and provides all over coverage, rather than being concentrated around spots where the gritty material is.
A skin peel usually lasts about 20-30 minutes and involves a mild acidic solution being applied to the skin. Our Surgeon then looks for the signs that the solution has penetrated deep enough, but not too deep to cause too much redness, and then neutralises the solution so that it does not go any deeper.
Any redness you may get, would only last for 2-3 days, and looks no worse than being flushed after a jog.
THE RESULTS
The chemical peel, or skin peel, results usually become apparent after a week, by which time you are fully healed from the treatment.
The main benefit being that the results are the same as laser skin resurfacing, but with much less downtime, the safety that there are no lasers being used, and refreshed, great feeling skin that glows.
WHERE CAN YOU APPLY A SKIN PEEL?
Skin peels can be applied to the face or the body. Face peels, or facial peels, take the form of glycolic peels, TCA peels, or more aggressive Jessner’s peels. The choice of face peels depends upon the condition of the skin before treatment and also the depth of lines and wrinkles. It is for this reason that we provide our clients with a pre and post treatment pack that is included in the cost of the skin peels. This pack prepares the skin for the glycolic peel, or the TCA peel, so that the best results are achievable.
SKIN PEEL v LASER SKIN RESURFACING
Skin peels offer the same results as laser skin resurfacing; fresher skin, reduced lines and wrinkles, and reduction in blemishes, but unlike laser skin resurfacing, you will only have some low level redness for a few days, rather than 2 weeks of downtime and up to 6 months for the area to fully recover.
